As far as online shopping fans go, we here at theEDIT team rate as some of the biggest. In fact rarely a day goes by when we don’t add something to cart (although we don’t always check out), but sometimes you just can’t beat an in store experience and Sydney’s Koskela is one of those times when you thank goodness you shut down the computer and decided to have a real life retail experience.
Koskela produces Australian furniture and homewares that is at the same time super modern and gloriously handcrafted with plenty of splashes of neon gloriousness. As well as pieces designed by the Koskela gang themselves, the space is home to some fine treats from other Aussie brands and designers. The best part is like many fancy-schmancy interior stores all of the goodies you want to take home aren’t north of a grand, in fact, there are oodles of buys that even at the end of a pay month you’ll be able to make your very own.
As well as the bigger investment pieces like lounges and dining tables, Koskela stocks super quirky art works, lighting fixtures and even cushions. The neon wire light fixtures are high on my suddenly need list as are the splattered paint tea towels that are way too fancy to wipe the dishes up with.
The Koskela warehouse shares a space with the equally as must-visitable cafe Kitchen By Mike so once you’ve spent your dosh on some eye candy for your home, you can fill your tummy with some seriously yummy treats and unbeatable coffee.
So go on, get off the lounge and get to Koskela and at least bag yourself at least a designer tea towel!
