I have had a massive crush on Secret Squirrel for long time, so when I heard there was a change afoot for the cult Sydney label I was worried. What if I wouldn’t love it as much? What if they’d gone and traded in their quirk and quality for same-same fast fashion? (Not that I’m not a fan of same-same fast fashion every now and again, I just don’t want it from them)
But thankfully, even though we’ll now call her a different name the collection is still high on my hit-list.
Designers Bri Cheeseman and Andrew Prince have renamed Secret Squirrel, Secret South as a way of heralding a new more grown up feel for the label, ‘For us, Secret South is almost like Secret Squirrel’s stylish older sister’. The collection is filled with clean silhouettes contrasted with ethnic digital prints which were designed by the oh-so clever fellow creative, Elke Kramer.
Personally, I cannot get enough of the printed pieces which were inspired by kilim textiles and mid-century florals, so lucky for me Secret South has splashed ‘em not only on their new fancy threads, but also on some cracker accessories. I’m eyeing that clutch off as a new iPad case myself.
The collection is available for pre-order now for all you eager beavers out there...
