I was a little apprehensive when it was announced that Zara were opening their doors here down under, but it was mainly for very, very selfish reasons. Even though Zara is one of the biggest retailers in the whole wide land, I still thought of it as my little secret. I’d come back from an overseas trip with a suitcase filled with the stuff and when people would ask me if that frock was [insert high-end designer name here] I’d mumble ‘Oh yeah…’ and slowly walk away leaving them thinking I’d totally purchased the latest runway look.
But now that they’re here? Oh goodness, I’m more in love than ever, and trust me, I ain’t the only one. The Sydney Pitt St store was rarely seen without a line-up not only at the cash register, but also to get into the change room. Me? I’m one of those shameless people who see a line to get into a change room and just decided to try things on over whatever I’ve got on. Classy.
Anyway…to cut a long story short, Zara have opened their doors at Bondi Junction Westfields to ease the congestion. The store doesn’t have the kids collections on offer in the Pitt St store, but it feels roomier and a little more luxe. The store receives two drops a week like all Zara stores so you can pretty much bet whenever you swing by there will be oh, I dunno, another 234 things you want to buy.
The doors officially opened last Thursday and of course I was there, coffee in hand to get a VIP preview and a guided tour of the new store. Here are a few of the delights I couldn’t help but snap…
I thought these were pugs, but they are in fact French Bulldogs (thanks @taniaaaah on Instagram!), either way...gosh I love a novelty button-up!
Buy it for your man, then steal it back. The gift that keeps on giving really.
