Weekend Hair How-To: Thanks To Anthropologie

Written by

LOOK 1 | The Scarf Topknot

TIME IT'LL TAKE

5 minutes (We love this for a last-minute dinner invite!)

BEST FOR

All hair types and lengths (Short-haired gals: just skip the topknot and add the scarf.)

WHAT TO DO

1.Make a topknot, but keep it a little messy—stray pieces around your face are fine, too.

2.Fold a large square scarf into a two-inch wide length. With the centre of the scarf at the nape of your neck, bring the ends around to your forehead. Loop them into a knot and tuck the ends out of sight.

LOOK 2 | The Headband

TIME IT'LL TAKE

1 minute if your hair is already wavy, 15 minutes if it's not.

BEST FOR

All hair types and lengths.

WHAT TO DO

1.Use a 1.5 inch curling iron to add loose waves to the bottom two-thirds of your hair, finishing with a spritz of shine spray. If you've just taken an ocean dip, let hair air-dry for natural, salty waves.

2.Make a centre part, then tuck your headband into your hair about an inch back from your hairline—don't use the headband to push back your hair, just let it act as a pretty accent.

LOOK 3 | The Barrette Topknot

TIME IT'LL TAKE

5 minutes

BEST FOR

All hair types and lengths

WHAT TO DO

1.Prep your hair as you would for Look 1.

2.Choose a few of your favourites barrettes (it's the number and scale that keep this elevated) and stagger them to one side of your topknot. Got short hair? Barrette as you please—no prep required!

LOOK 4 | The Deco Barrette

TIME IT'LL TAKE

1 minute if your hair is already wavy, 15 minutes if it's not

BEST FOR

All hair types and lengths

WHAT TO DO

1.Prep your hair as you would for Look 2.

2.Make a side part, sweeping back the smaller section of hair and securing the barrette just behind your ear. Leave the rest loose and flowing.

LOOK 5 | The Scarf Braid

TIME IT'LL TAKE

15 minutes (It's easier than it looks.)

BEST FOR

Long hair of all textures

WHAT TO DO

1.Part your hair to the side and make a loose side ponytail.

2.Take a large square scarf and tie a loopy bow in one corner. Secure the bow at the back of your part with hairpins.

3.Undo your ponytail and begin braiding, working the loose end of the scarf into the braid. No need for the braid to be perfect—undone is best! Secure the braid with an elastic.

LOOK 6 | The Barrette Sweep

TIME IT'LL TAKE

10 minutes

BEST FOR

Long hair of all textures

WHAT TO DO

1.Create a side part and, with your hair to one side, create a braid or a loose bun.

2.Loosen the braid or bun with your fingers, allowing any shorter pieces to fall free.

3.On the swept side, stagger barrettes above your ear to secure loose pieces and create a sleek balance for this undone look.
